History of the Church What the Lord has done has been miraculous, incredible, and life-changing for so many. To God be the glory!! Listed below are just a few of the dates and events which highlight our history as a church. To really get a sense of what Christ is doing here, however, you must come and see for yourself. Come and be a part of our history as the next chapter is written! Key Dates/Events March 30, 1997 - Official "Launch Sunday" of Richland Creek Community Church. 182 in attendance. The following Sunday we had 101 in attendance. June, 1997 - First baptism service (held at Falls Lake). November 1, 1997 - Pastor Ken Atkinson called as Pastor of Music and Worship in a part-time capacity - Richland Creek's first associate staff member. December, 1998 - 19 acres of land was purchased on Burlington Mills Road, the site of our present campus. 12.2 acres has been purchased since. October, 1999 - Eric King hired as Financial Manager. June, 2001 – Ground broken for Phase I, a 38,000 square-foot multi-use facility. September, 2001 – Dr. Ken Coley called as Pastor of Education and Sunday School. June 1, 2002 – John Wright called as Pastor of Evangelism and Missions. He now serves as our Associate Pastor/Discipleship. September 8, 2002 – The celebration and dedication of our new facility. July 31, 2003 - Dr. Cox's last Sunday. April 4, 2004 - David Sims was called as the Senior Pastor of Richland Creek. November 6, 2005 - Wayde Howell called as Evangelism/Missions Pastor. January 15, 2006 - Began 3rd service time with 3 Sunday School times. May 21, 2006 - Legacy Building Campaign begins. July 23, 2006 - Steve Sweeney called as our Children’s Pastor. September 16, 2007 - Dave Miller called as our Student Pastor.
