REBUILD WESTERN NC
Disaster Relief Trip - June 25-28
Trip Date: Wednesday, June 25 - Saturday, June 28
Location: Swannonoa, NC
This will be our third trip to this area, and we are building great relationships with the people there. It is so special to return each time and see the progress that has been made.
There is so much more to do, and we want to assist those who are still without a permanent place to live during this cold season. Our partner, Baptists on Mission, is still very involved in the cleanup process. They have even started a new phase called Essential Rapid Repair (ERR). The goal is to help thousands of families return to their homes as soon as possible.
The ERR program is not designed to totally repair a home, but to repair it enough to allow them to get back in until the home can be finished. All local codes must be met so the work will be supervised by licensed and experienced volunteers. If you are licensed in one or more of these areas, you are desperately needed.
The tasks will primarily involve repairs, rebuilding damaged structures, and assisting with various aspects of recovery work. We encourage licensed building, electrical, and plumbing contractors to join our team because we have to rebuild back to code, but lots of other skills are needed as well as people who might not have a specific skill but have a heart to serve and are willing to learn.
You will only be responsible for your travel meals and possibly some gas expenses. The Baptist on Mission will provide the sleeping arrangements and the food.
If you are available and would like to join, please contact either James Bailey (baileyj56@yahoo.com) or Gwen Harrist (gwenbh101@gmail.com) no later than Sunday, June 15.
